Become a Babysitter: Empowering Babysitters to Support Neurodivergent Children & Emergency Services
WebsiteSaturday, December 6, 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM. Ages 12-18.
Are you a babysitter looking to better support children with diverse learning, communication, or sensory needs? Join us for an engaging, hands-on workshop led by an experienced occupational therapist, designed to help you build inclusive and confident caregiving skills.
In this workshop, you’ll learn:
- What neurodivergence really means and why it matters
- How to recognize and respond to sensory processing differences
- Practical strategies to help children feel calm, connected, and have fun
- Respectful ways to communicate with families when concerns arise
With a positive, neurodiversity-affirming approach, you’ll leave feeling more confident, capable, and prepared to support all children in your care.
The session will also include a guest speaker from the Southern Dutchess Community Coalition, who will provide essential information on recognizing the signs of overdose and responding to an overdose situation involving a child.
