This introductory workshop puts the focus on 16mm and super8mm FILMmaking from start to finish. Participants will shoot their own single-reel black and white [silent] film.
We will cover cameras, film stock, exposure, lenses, how to load, focus, run, use light meters, maintain and operate the cameras.
The goal is to create a short film on super8 or 16mm that you conceive, direct, and shoot independently. 16mm and super8 cameras provided. Filmstock, development, and film scans included with workshop fee.

About the teacher Lucas Millard is an award-winning filmmaker, cinematographer, and colorist whose work has appeared on HBO/Max, Showtime, Netflix, PBS, and more. With an MFA in Film Production from UT Austin, his feature credits include The Happy Poet, Kiki, Well Groomed, and Baato. As a teacher, Lucas draws on his professional experience to lead workshops and mentor emerging filmmakers in both the technical craft and the creative vision of cinema.
