Collage with Image Transfers

Website

Get creative and experiment by incorporating image transfers into your own collage.

Overview

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to transfer images and use them to build a one-of-a-kind collage.

Image transfers create beautifully imperfect results — soft edges, worn textures, and unexpected details — giving your work depth and character.

We’ll begin with a short overview of collage materials and approaches (perfect if you’re new or simply want a refresher).

Then you’ll learn a simple, repeatable transfer technique and experiment with different types of images and surfaces, including paper and small wooden panels.

After a series of demonstrations, you’ll have time to make and experiment on your own.

This class isn’t about creating a perfectly finished work of art — it’s about learning a process you can continue to explore and play with long after the workshop ends.

Interested in incorporating your own photos?

You have the option to send 1–3 JPG images ahead of class (details will be sent the Monday before the workshop).

If you register after the photo submission deadline, you’re welcome to use images from magazines or bring your own photo printed on a laser printer (Staples, FedEx, etc.) using regular printer paper.

All materials are provided, and you’ll leave with a handout so you can continue experimenting at home.
